BARBARELLA! From Sketch to Final

Hi, Friends!
Here is some Barbarella fan art!
I absolutely adore this movie for all it's silly sci-fi 70's wonder.
First is the piece in it's final state followed by some photos of my progress.
From pencil sketch, I inked with Windsor Newton Black ink & a Series 7 #6 brush. Then I took the finished line work, scanned it, and went LSD NUTS-O with the colour (of course all colours inspired by the film).
I had a LOT of fun doing this one, and I think it will probably influence my next adventures with a brush and ink.

Final Colour in real LSD vision!

Introducing The Skrill!

Hey, everyone!!
The first thing I've ever directed is airing this very Thursday!!
"View to a Skrill Part 1" on Dragons: Defenders of Berk (Cartoon Network).
Here's a clip: View To A Skrill ( < click & scroll to the bottom of the article)
I'm pretty excited that the network has decided to air part 1 & 2 as a back to back 1 hour special! AWESOME!

Part 2 is directed by my pal John Sanford, and we both had a LOT of fun introducing this new dragon. I could not be any more proud of my team and co-workers that busted their butts getting this episode up and running. Not to mention, you all helped me get an Annie Nomination for directing it!!! GEEEEEEZ! Great work everyone. GO DRAGONS! And bring on the SKRILL!

Ink School 2

Still practicing and experimenting with some stuff I learned from the dudes at work. Here are some sketches I worked on today and yesterday. I wrote down what I think was going wrong at certain points to help myself remember what not to do. A brand new love affair with ink has begun!

I've been starting with a rough pencil sketch. Helps me know where I'm goin'.
Wanted to try experimenting with some hair texture today...
Notes to myself!
I hear white paint is great for covering up boneheaded mistakes! haha
